On 1st April, 2007 CCLRC changed its name to the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
The organisation has merged with another UK research council (PPARC -Particl Physics and Astronomy Research Council) , which it previously separated from in 1994. STFC now has more sites than CCLRC had, including telescopes in the Canary Islands and Hawaii. The change should have no consequences for the XtreemOS project beyond the change in name itself.
