Context
This position is proposed in the framework of the XtreemOS European Integrated Project (http://www.xtreemos.eu). XtreemOS project aims at building and promoting a Linux-based Operating System to Support Virtual Organizations for Next Generation Grids. INRIA is the scientific coordinator of XtreemOS project. The consortium is composed of 19 industrial and academic partners from 8 different countries (7 European countries and China).
The technical manager will be a member of XtreemOS project office and will work under the responsibility of XtreemOS project leader. His/her main task will be the technical management the XtreemOS Consortium, which mainly implies the management of the software production as release manager. She/he will also participate in the testing and validation activities of the XtreemOS Grid operating system for which a first version is available in open source (http://www.xtreemos.eu/software).
Work description
- Organization of the consortium work to ensure that milestones are met and that software releases are produced in time
- Monitoring software development against the planned schedule
- Implementation of quality management procedures for software development
- Risk management: maintain a list of risks and monitor them in collaboration with project leader
- Participation in the update of the project work plan
- Implementation, under the supervision of the project leader, of the decisions of the executive committee
- Administration of the tools for the external and internal web site
- Administration of the XtreemOS project within INRIA Gforge cooperative development platform (software engineering tools)
- Supervising support to XtreemOS user community
- Maintenance of the software development section of XtreemOS public website
- Preparation and presentation of XtreemOS software demonstrations
- Contribution to the management of XtreemOS permanent testbed
- Participation in project bodies and review meetings
Profile
Engineering or master degree in computer science + experience or PhD degree in computer science
Required expertise
- Fluent English (read, spoken, written) demanded. Notice that interviews for this job will be carried out in English. The knowledge of a third language (other than French and English) would be appreciated.
- Ability and liking for team work and relationships
- Rigor, autonomy, organizational skills
- Good writing ability
- Experience in software development in a large project
- Experience with Linux and open source software projects
- Good knowledge in operating systems and distributed systems
Appreciated skills or experiences
- Previous experience in project management
